If I think about favorite Halloween treats from a bygone era (also known as my childhood), this is one of the first things that comes to mind. There was simply nothing I loved more around Halloween time than a good pudding graveyard. Bonus points if it included gummy worms, which seems to have disappeared from grocery stores in tandem with those old-school popcorn balls.
I decided to grow-up this Halloween dessert staple with some homemade, dark chocolate pudding (fool-proof recipe here!) If Jello pudding screams “childhood,” then 70% ghirardelli chocolate screams “adulthood.”
Of course, the candy pumpkins, Oreo dirt and graham cracker grave still evoke childhood, and frankly, I’m OK with that.
