you glow, girl

Glow you glow, girl

It’s still summer (I know, I know) but I’m already thinking of ways to extend my seasonal glow into fall. I’m very sun-safe, but I do feel more confident with a bit of a tan–I think almost any girl does (unless you’re one of those people who looks great pale which is just so. not. me.)! Luckily, modern beauty is fan-freakin-tastic. There are so many ways to get a believable glow at home–think sun-kissed in St. Barts rather than Snookie in Seaside Heights–long after beach days have ended.

I’ve rounded up some of my must-haves, above. Stila’s Baked Duo (#1) quickly delivers a believable glow when brushed across cheeks, while Clinique’s ‘Superbalanced’ powder bronzer dispenses just the right amount of tint so you don’t enter Oompa Loompa territory. Others are all perfect for a DIY tan–whether you prefer a mousse (#2), gel (#3) or lotion (#4). A fun tip? You might not even realize it, but pale nails actually make your hands and arms appear more tan–I love Essie’s classic shade, Ballet Slippers (#7). Last but not least is NARS Body Glow, with a smell that is just so amazing, you can’t NOT have it–your golden glow post-use is just a bonus.

I’m definitely going to try the Stila or the Clinique! I usually find that bronzers make it look like I rubbed dirt on my face (maybe I’m going too dark?) but these seem more subtle. BTW, I was reading my copy of Self today and saw your name in the masthead! It was super exciting haha :)

Ah! Too funny! I have to admit, I got really excited when I saw it for the first time–first job, and all!

Oh, great post! I use Sephora’s bronzer which I’ve been pretty pleased with but I’ll have to give some of these products a try. I’m definitely more comfortable with a tan and I found a great tanning lotion called Faux Tan which works wonders and smells amazing. Most importantly it doesn’t stain my hands so that’s a big plus. :)

Oh, I’ll have to try that one out! Who makes it? Stained hands are the absolute worst–so embarrassing!

I don’t think I’ve ever tried the Stila bronzer, but I might just give it a whirl!
