A while back I saw this video by Kate Spade and absolutely fell in love with it (p.s. did you know that the Kate Spade video was inspired by the Moon River scene in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”–so cute!).
I loved the little story being typed out on the typewriter so much that I wanted to find a place for it in my home. I stumbled into a craft store and decided to get a little creative–all you need for this easy DIY is a canvas of the desired size, glitter and a glue pen.
Simply set up shop somewhere you don’t mind getting a little sparkly–I also spread a garbage bag on the floor in case there was any spillage.
I selected Martha Stewart Craft Glitter for this, but really any loose, fine glitter will work!
Writing with the glue pen can be tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it gets really easy! I would recommend doing a line of a quote at a time, that way the glue doesn’t dry before you have a chance to sprinkle the glitter on.
The finished product found a home in our bathroom–we love it!
In case you’re curious what the whole quote says: “This is a story of a charming girl. She laughs out loud, sings off key and believes in taking chances. She is quick and curious and playful and strong. She lets her imagination run away with her. She has never been one to stick to convention. She is fond of daydreams that take her places. She can order a cocktail in six different languages. She feels understated is overrated.”
